His father and mother were both from single child households and had a lot of trouble getting pregnant so they wanted Marcus to have a lot of kids in the future. They often sent Marcus to Korea during the summer time to spend time with his grandfather, who owned a music studio and taught others how to play instruments. He learned about music there and when he returned to the states, he took up band.He learned to drum there and fell in love with it, growing a large group of friends and he continues with the school band through high school. Scoring a scholarship into a state school for his drumming skills he enters school studying business because he had no clue what he wanted to do with his life while being in the school band. Because he went to school away, he only saw his friends during the winter and summer breaks, but kept close contact with them.When his grandfather passed, his parents wanted to sell the studio but Marcus was quick to reject the notion. Deciding to drop his life in the states and return to Korea to take it over. Using his business degree and concentration in accounting and marketing to his advantage. His bubbly nature made him easy to talk to.Growing up, everyone around thought he would become an idol or a model one day, but Hanwool's passion was always in music production. At the time, he thought it was all a prank, and ignored it. But when the scouter continued reaching out, he told his parents, who looked up the company information and reached out to one of the higher ups to confirm the scouter’s identity. After confirmation, they allowed Bowen to make his own decisions, despite being young. As his father put it, “you’re responsible for your own life and decisions, regardless of age.”
Bowen ended up trying out, not knowing an ounce of Korean, he sang “Stitches” by Shawn Mendes, and his dancing lessons came into help. Bowen passed the audition with flying colors and officially debuted as the maknae of his group in 2019, with the stage name Bonhwa. His birthname, Bowen, means rich and literate and his stage name is glorious. He’s constantly seen causing trouble for his hyungs and being a little shit, the chaos of his groups.
His leader sometimes refers to him as the glorified rich kid, who knows too much for his own good, but is also the one the to spoil him the most. He easily makes friends with others and openly provides unsolicited love advice despite having never really experience love himself. Wooyoung prides himself as being a love guru, but he really has no clue what he’s talking about. His handsome looks and tall figure made him an attractive target for admirers in school, but he never caught on to their longings.

Besides that, he enjoys iced Americanos and a warm hot bowl of kimchi jjigae. If it’s raining outside, it’s always a day for makgeoli and kimchi pancakes. Kimchi is his favorite thing, and he was never really one for sweets, but he’ll eat it when he has to.
